Used extensively but often unseen, motionless mixing technology is an exceptionally efficient and economical inline mixer that contains no moving parts. This motionless characteristic makes for hassle-free, low maintenance mixing with the benefit of long service life.
The LPD (Low Pressure Drop) or LLPD (Lower Pressure Drop) ROSS models consist of a series of semielliptical plates which are discriminately positioned in a tubular housing, up to 40" in diameter or larger. A single element consists of two plates perpendicular (or 120° for the LLPD) to each other and the mixing operation is based on splitting and diverting input streams. Both are used for laminar and turbulent product flow patterns.
The ISG (Interfacial Surface Generator) Static Mixer is ideal for blending materials with large viscosity ratios, as high as 250,000:1 or more. This design features four holes bored at oblique angles through the pipe-enclosed elements to provide a radial flow path into the intermittent tetrahedral chamber formed by adjacent ISG elements. When two input streams enter an ISG mixer, the number of layers emerging from the first, second and third elements are 8, 32, 128. This exponential progression generates over two million layers through just ten (10) elements, assuring product homogeneity.
